G'day peoples.
I'm a 51 year old computer programmer living in Adelaide.
In the days of Airwar I called my self 'Barf' because of the way I flew. These days I go by Thx1137, it is pronounced "Tex" :-) It comes from the title of George Lucas's first film, Thx1138.
The first flight game I played was on the Sinclair Spectrum. I didn't play it a lot until PMDG released their birds. I once sat in the pilot seat of a real 737 (it wasn't in service!) and knew where everything was and how to use it. Very cool, made me wish I was John Trevolta :-)
I stopped flight simming when I got a rec aviation license, I haven't flown for a few years now though. I wish the missus got a job, I would love to get back in the air! I can't afford to do it for real so that's why I looked into what sims are out there now.
Besides the bit of Airwar I haven't flown online and haven't flown WW2 aircraft much at all, even single player so I'm not particularly good!

Welcome Tex, i'm still learning on the flight sims myself and not real experienced. Good to meet someone with real life experience even if it's a rec licence, what flight sims do you have at the moment ? Cliffs of Dover is fairly cheap to buy now, i would recommend getting the Team Fusion Patches if you buy it Endless put a post up on where to get the patches i think.
Cheers WhiteYeti.

I don't have CloD yet. $50 isn't that cheap so I wasn't sure whether to get it or not. I think I will because I think it might be more popular at the moment than BoS. Just had a thought, I was was no 2 in a Longbow 2 squad. Ghod I loved that game!
I picked up IL-2 1946 and it ran fine vanilla but it won't start if I patch it using UP3. I haven't tried any others. I have a few DCS titles, FSX, Prepar3D, Falcon 4, LO Flaming Cliffs, F18, Condor, Enemy Engaged 2. I had Wings of Prey but it isn't on my NAS for some reason.

Hi THX, Welcome aboard the forum and the squad. Some of the "civilian" sims can be interesting re using the correct "aviation" chatter, approach patterns etc. No worries, re experience. We are happy to take on all comers and BOS has enough technical aspects to keep you interested but not get over-whelming. Check out DCS World (free download with a P51 and Soviet jet) and wait for a sale (about once a quarter). Get the FW190 module for about $15. I enjoy the flight model. Hope to catch you online sometime soon. We are testing DServer and hope to get coop missions happening (ie squad v AI).

Agree that it is expensive considering you have to then download the Team Fusion patches, plus BOS is about $36 at EB games. You could probably get it cheaper on ebay, perhaps amazon. At one stage you could get it for about $10 on Steam.
