History, autobiography, reference
Fighter Pilot: The Memoirs of Legendary Ace Robin Olds
by Christina Olds
I'm a WW2 tragic, so for me to highly recommend a book largely outside this era it has to be outstanding, and this one is. Highly recommended.
Stuka Pilot by Hans Ulrich Rudel
Luftwaffe Fighter Ace - Norbert Hanning
First Light by Geoffrey Wellum

Killer Caldwell by Jeffrey Watson
Clive "Killer" Caldwell was Australia's most successful WW2 fighter pilot with 28 kills to his credit. He saw action against the Germans, Italians and Japanese.
Caldwell lies tenth in the list of British and Commonwealth fighter pilots in WW2. Of the five Allied pilots with scores larger than 30, four gained their victories in the Spitfire. Twenty of Clive's air kills were in North Africa, and in all of them he was flying the P40. An aircraft in which both the British and Germans acknowledged were inferior to both the Spitfire and the bf109.
Clive then returned to Australia and flew the Spitfire V from Darwin against the Zero. Another contest that most would say the enemy had the superior aircraft.
A controversial figure in the WW2 RAAF. The book details some of the internal politics of the time that will surprise many.
Well worth a read.
PS Looking forward to the release of the P40 in BOM and DCS.

The First and the Last - Adolf Galland
This is a great read, although he doesn't go much into specifics of flying various aircraft its more about the tactical, strategic and political issues in the Luftwaffe. It's very interesting since he was the General of fighters until he was demoted after the pilots mutiny. Then it describes the issues he had forming JV44, finding fuel and pilots.
