Lupsom has released a new version of his Simple Mission Builder (SMB) for BOS (19 May 15). I'm hacking my way through the standard Mission Builder. So if someone wants to have a go at this and report, please feel free! Lupsom SMB on BOS forumPS Had a closer look at this. It is fairly straight forward to load. Unfortunately it is only for Single Player missions. However, I'm guessing you could then edit the file and make it multiplayer or COOP. Don't know if this would be any quicker at achieving a multiplayer or COOP scenario than going straight to the standard mission builder in the first instance.

The Mission Builder is an interesting and powerful piece of software. At first glance it can be overwhelming and opening experienced coders missions only confuses the issue even more. The ROF manual is a useful tool and Youtube has many ROF tutorials that start from scratch. Starting from there and investing some time is the only way to get started. Rumour has it that a BOS/BOM manual is going to appear at some stage. The key concept to understand early is the difference between Object Links and Target Links. The ROF manual can help here. I found Bob Vanderstock's ROF tutorial helpful. I made a simple SP mission. You may find it useful to follow the logic flow - not too much stuff to get overwhelmed with. In the mission you fly an LA5 and try to intercept a JU52 conducting a resupply mission. If you fly the mission on Normal you can see the JU52 take-off, select ctrl-F2 after spawning - F1 to return to the cockpit. The mission files are to be placed in the .../data/Missions folder. In Missions in-game, select Milk Run v1.0 Dropbox Link

Had a look at Prangster's Mission Building Guide (see prev post). Excellent resource if you want to have a shot at mission building. Well explained in a step-by-step format that results in a multi-player COOP mission.

A bump for Prangster's Mission Building Guide. Now that I have got the server back up and running, are there any budding mission builders out there? The ME is a game within the game. On the positive side the ME is powerful. On the negative side, when you hear software being described as powerful, it also means it is complex, which means there is a fair learning curve involved. But if you have the time and interest, the path has been forged by Prangster, Coconut and Veteranen. Interesting to get a copy of their .mission files and examine the logic behind their programming.
